Erin and Marshall’s wedding was nothing short of exquisite. Their beautiful venue was the Chapel on Lee University Campus and was so naturally gorgeous. This couple originally had planned for their wedding date to be July 16, 2016. Just a few short months ago I got an email from them asking me if I had availability for December 20 and before I knew it they moved their date up almost 7 months!! When I asked Erin why they decided to do this, she said “I just looked at everything we had already done and I just realized that we didn’t have to wait and who wants to prolong marrying the love of their life?”. It made me smile the biggest smile! I love their purpose and intention and thought process behind every single detail. Starting out with the amount of surprises they had for each other. Marshall had designed a gift system where Erin received 4 different gifts at the exact time that she would need them during the day. She had no clue what was coming and was surprised by every single one of them. Additionally, Erin got Marshall a couple different gifts, one of them being a book of her bridal session filled with gorgeous pictures that we took of her in her dress at Ocoee Whitewater Center. You can see her bridal session by clicking the link HERE! Erin also surprised Marshall with the awesome UT Groom’s cake photographed below.
So often I see bride and groom’s forget about gifting each other on the wedding day. They’re usually so busy finalizing last minute details the month or so before the wedding + they say stuff like “we already spent so much money on the wedding” that they don’t end up doing anything for each other. But let me tell you, if this couple who bumped up their wedding by 7 months had time to do it, then you can make time too! And there doesn’t have to be a ton of money spent either! Get creative!! Obviously writing each other notes on the day is absolutely free and SO valuable, but you can also make stuff, or just get simple gifts that speak volumes. On our wedding day, I made Dustin a book that I hand wrote and drew on all the pages of a fancy sketchbook that told our story from day 1 until June 22, 2013 (our wedding day). We also wrote two letters to each other to read that day and then one to read together over a bottle of wine on our 1 year anniversary and sealed them in a box. All of these things were so meaningful to us. So when things get stressful and busy, don’t let yourself cut out each other.
