There is something so right about girls and pink. This newborn princess is decked in pink and it looks so good on her. Just a few short weeks before she was born, I got to photograph mom and dad (see that session here). The way they talked about her, the way they already loved her… it was beautiful as I saw it put into action for Lillian’s newborn session. I arrived at their house at 8:30 a.m. With a full tummy, Lillian was fast asleep waiting to be posed. She was so easy to fold up and maneuver and if I’m being honest, she photographed beautifully. I learned so much about this little nugget. I learned how much she is loved. This is just a little simple thing, but it made a strong impression on me. I am not a hoarder… at all. I love to clean out my closet regularly, and clean, tidy spaces are my jam. So in saying that, I’ve thrown out anything old, like my teddy and my blanky from my childhood. But this family has handed down little Raggedy Ann dolls, cute little bears and a circus guy throughout generations and it was so meaningful. I photograph a lot of newborns and a lot of nursuries and I have not seen this much loved tucked into one room before. They saved them, restitched them, and kissed them with love as they passed it off to the next generation and it got me a little. My heartstrings were definitely singing. I love this tradition and I’m super excited to start it for my future little ones.
I don’t remember how I came about meeting this family but I’m so glad I did. They are wonderful. I can’t wait to see Lillian grow as she finds her expressions and tickle spots. This is the start of an amazing journey with this family and I could not be more excited about it!
