Taylor and Ty are one of the cutest couples I’ve photographed… Both Taylor and Ty played high school and college basketball. While Ty went on to play professionally, Taylor went on to medical school. One lived in Delaware while the other in Memphis… but of course they made it work because they’re so incredibly perfect for each other.
Because of their geographical locations, I didn’t think that I was going to get to meet Ty before the wedding, much less take engagement pictures of them. In fact, Taylor flew up to Delaware and had their engagement pictures done there because she was positive that they weren’t both going to be in Knoxville long enough to have engagement pictures done with me. Then one night Taylor text me and asked if we could still do them… of course I was so pumped to say yes. I see these two on social media together and they’re just so adorable + I absolutely LOVED Taylor from the second I met her. I had also met Ty’s mom at our initial meeting and I loved her equally as much, so I knew that Ty was going to be awesome based on the stories that those two told me about him. For lots of other logistical reasons, I really wanted to get them in front of my camera before the wedding day so I’m just ecstatic that it worked out.
I think my favorite part about this session happened at the very end. They both changed into jerseys and tennis shoes as we made our way over to Neyland Stadium to finish off the session. We parked in Circle Park and started in the grass, then by the torch, and walked over to the road that runs perpendicular to Neyland. There were lots of high schoolers on campus this day, probably taking tours and prepping for their first year of college. Two girls had wondered away from their group and were taking selfies in the same spot we were trying to. So I took my time, took pictures of Taylor and Ty in a different direction… walked slowly… and they were STILL taking selfies. How long does it take? Then I see one grab the phone and start taking photos of the other one. Then they switch. I’m talking probably 10 minutes worth of selfie taking. Obviously, we couldn’t help but joke around about them. FINALLY once they moved, I get Taylor and Ty in position and start to photograph them… then the girls come pulling out in a huge jeep right down the same road. Sheesh. Couldn’t help but laugh.
