This Hidden Homestead wedding in Bowling Green, KY was simply gorgeous.
All of you shoe lovers out there are really going to appreciate my favorite story from this wedding. It involves the groom’s gift to the bride and it’s so perfect. I have to tell you the full story though with the background. It came down to when the bride and groom were getting dressed. All parts of the wedding day fly by but it really picks up at this point in the day. From the time that they each get dressed, it’s like a blink of an eye later and the day is over. Haley, the bride, was in her home town, but PJ, the groom, had traveled from Georgia. So you can imagine that all of his stuff is packed in bags and probably scattered between all the places that he had been sleeping. So I went over and asked him for his gift for Haley. He had the bag, but realized that he couldn’t find the letter that he wrote for her. We were already running late, so driving around town looking for it was not really an option at this point. I love the way he reacts in this moment. He says, make sure she has her phone with her and I’ll text her what I wrote… she has to read it before she opens the gift… I love that he turned to the 21st century and wasn’t scared to text it to her. Something that she will forever have on her person, backed up to the cloud, and can read as much as she wants. So I took the gift back to Haley and gave her the directions. We patiently waited for the phone to ding with a text message… oh the suspense. But it did. She teared up. She laughed. She read in all seriousness. Then she finished and started opening her gift and it was a pair of white, nike, high top, Air Jordans. My jaw dropped. If you are a tennis shoe lover, you know that this shoe is the top of it’s class. Her mouth was wide with awe and she immediately looked up at her mom in the room and said oh, I’m totally dancing in these all night at the reception. So fitting since they were all white… totally bridal.
This story shows the personalities of this couple so well. They are always this fun. Always smiling. Always putting each other first. Always loving each other so beautifully. When they decided to use me as their wedding photographer I was totally stoked. After we took their engagement pictures I was even more excited because they are seriously SUCH models. Then when the wedding day was finally here, I can truly say that it was such an honor to get to be a part of it.
