Shelby Bottoms Park
The weekend before last, I went to Nashville, TN to photograph some families and an engagement and to attend the Abound Conference. I had a wedding in Knoxville on September 29th that was an hour east. Instead of heading to Nashville Saturday night to photograph the Shelby Bottoms Park family session after the wedding, I decided I was going to wake up EEEAAAARLY Sunday morning and drive over. I am so much more a morning person than I am a night person, especially when I’m driving. I got up at 4:00 am, got ready, grabbed some coffee, and hit the road. I’m known for blasting the Pandora station “Ever Be (live music)” on road trips, but for some reason, this time, I downloaded the Audible app so I could listen to Chip and Joanna Gaines’ The Magnolia Story. I’ve never listened to an audio book before. Mostly because I’m not a great listener of readings. In school if someone read something to me, I had to follow along or it literally never even went in one ear so that it could come out the other. This time, I decided to give it a go and, you guys, this book is ridiculously awesome. Some of the major points that Chip and Joanna talk about in their book played a theme throughout my entire 3 days in Nashville. I know now that God was getting my attention early that morning in the very first few hours of my trip.
I arrived at Shelby Bottoms Park to photograph the Everson family. Sarah Everson is a long time friend of mine that you’ve seen on here I think probably 5 times now. Crazy stuff. Her sister is Julie McDaniel, and every year, in March, we decide a weekend that I will come to Nashville and photograph the Everson and McDaniel families for their annual fall photos. The last couple years, they have both wanted totally different locations for their photos. This year, I started at Shelby Bottoms Park with the Eversons and went to Carnton Plantation in Franklin with the McDaniels. Since these two are related and were back to back sessions, I’m including both of them in one post. Last year, I ended up including ALL of my fall family sessions in one post because I just got too overwhelmed trying to blog every single one of them. I’m hoping this year I will be able to do them individually since I’ve hired so much help. Last week had an insane amount of shooting though. Honestly, there aren’t enough days in the week to have these two separated out into two blog posts!
I know that I talked about the InstaTV I was going to do about what God was doing in my trip to Nashville, all the speakers I heard, and the nonprofit companies you can follow and buy your Christmas gifts from. That’s still on my to do list. It didn’t happen as quickly as I wanted, but stay tuned because it is coming! Maybe in the form of InstaTV or maybe in the form of a blog post or maybe both. Either way, it’s coming!
