A Wedding at The Standard
There are so many Knoxville venues that offer amazing outdoor portrait locations. There aren’t as many that offer a variety of indoor portrait locations though. Especially, not as many awesome spots as you get with a wedding at The Standard. I am so very thankful this past Saturday’s wedding was at The Standard because it was so incredibly hot outside. We did go out for a few pictures in their beautiful upper, outdoor patio area, but we were out there for 10 minutes before everyone desperately needed to go back inside. I can’t say enough awesome things about this venue. I love it to my core, and I love all the urban, industrial backdrops it offers. Also, we still got some fabulous halo effect images with the light flooding into the windows.
Besides the awesome venue, I had so much fun at this wedding. First of all, it was my very last wedding before baby Hazel arrives. I don’t know what it is about my first and last weddings of the season, but I always love them. This year I have two short seasons because right in the middle Hazel arrives. I’ve never had 2.5 months off in the middle of the summer, but I’m not going to lie…I am very excited for it. This year I have two first weddings of the season and two last weddings of the season, and it just so happens that the months I have off are the hottest months of the year. I am very thankful not to have to be working in this heat. Even if it wouldn’t be as big of a deal or feel as hot if I weren’t massively pregnant.
Anywho. I don’t know if Sarah read my blog post about wedding dresses that I wrote here, but she picked out the most perfect gown. It twirled and caught the wind absolutely perfectly. There are way more twirling shots than just the ones you see here, and there are a ton here. Sorry, not sorry.
I’m also so so thankful for the team of wedding vendors that this couple hired. I already talked about how amazing their venue was. If you’re getting married in the middle of the summer or in a really rainy season (mmhhmm, April), I would highly recommend having a wedding at The Standard because we took 80% of their portraits inside in the air conditioning using all natural light, and they have a massive variety to choose from! Also, you’re going to find a comprehensive list of the rest of their vendors listed below with links to their websites, and I need you to know that this was seriously a power team. I cannot say enough great things about each and every one involved and want to make a special highlight about Michael Whitlock the videographer (you can follow him on Instagram here). I have worked with a TON of videographers this season. In years past, I would say only about half of my weddings had videographers, but so far in 2019, I’ve had probably 85% also have a videographer. It’s a growing industry that holds a lot of newbies… maybe not new to video in general, but new to wedding video specifically. I’ve worked with a very very wide variety and some experiences have been better than others. I’m learning and growing my skills in being able to work most efficiently with videographers on wedding days and really appreciate the constructive criticism I’ve gained from having simple conversations with them over the last couple months. Well, when Michael arrived to Sarah and Chase’s wedding at The Standard, we immediately hit it off and worked amazingly together. He was so flexible and so great, and I just really feel like I need to highlight him for all the other couples out there considering hiring a wedding videographer for their wedding day!
Okay, okay… this post is lengthy… What can I say, I just have a lot of words needing to escape my brain before I don’t get to write a wedding blog for 2.5 months! What am I going to do with myself?!?!
