Melton Hill Senior Session

On July 3rd, I met Tori for her Melton Hill senior session. We had 6 straight days of thick, heavy clouds with random rain showers and ugly weather, and then, there was July 3rd. This BEAUTIFUL sunny day that was a bit warm but so perfect. Of course, Melton Hill Park was crowded with swimmers and fishermen, but to be the first pretty day all week, I was surprised we weren’t competing with dozens of other photographers as well.

Tori just graduated from high school. She is going to Pellissippi State Community College with the long term goal of becoming a nurse. Typically, I don’t have much time to get to know my seniors. We don’t do a pre-event consultation, and most of the time, I’m conversing with their moms. I just have our short time together at our actual shoot, but I feel like I can genuinely tell so much about them as they become vulnerable in front of my camera. This girl right here is a gem. When I asked her about how she decided on nursing, she said, “I just want to help people.” It’s really quite incredible right now, during this pandemic, that anyone still wants to become a nurse, but this is where I saw her heart. Even in the midst of one of the hardest times our medical staff has seen in our life time, she still just wants to help people.

While I was shooting Tori’s Melton Hill senior session, I developed a MASSIVE blister on the back of my heel. When Tori was changing outfits, I realized how bad the blister really was and decided I was going to have to go barefoot or I might start bleeding. It was not professional, but I could not handle wearing the shoe anymore haha. Not only did Tiffany and Tori understand, but they even gave me a Band-Aid to make it through the rest of the session. Another moment to reveal her core sweetness.

I’m so thankful for their grace and for them letting me document this monumental time in Tori’s life (and Tiffany’s).
